Workout every Wednesday at Episcopal Church of the Mediator – 1620 West Turner – west edge of West Park – with Sanctuary Core Fitness from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Based on the principles of Joseph Pilates, who concentrated on core muscles and the spine, classes include stretching, work with light hand weights, basic ballet, and yoga to promote overall well being, strength and flexibility. Beginners through advanced students of all ages and conditions may take the same class, as moves and positions can be modified. What you will need: Loose-fitting or stretchy clothing, a yoga mat (or a folded blanket), hand weights (cans of soup work well, too), towel, and water. There is no set fee for the class; instead, we favor “grace economics,” encouraging you to contribute what you can.
