West Park Civic Assn needs help with tree planting this Saturday

In partnership with the City of Allentown, West Park Civic Assn. will be planting approximately 30 street trees on Saturday, Nov 14, with a second round of planting 30 trees scheduled for Saturday Nov 21.

We are recruiting volunteers for both events. Please contact us at westpark.ca@nullverizon.net or 610-737-7132 to let us know for which date you can help.

We will meet at the band shell in West Park (located at 16th and Turner Streets) at 8 am. Coffee and snacks will be provided. At lunch time pizza and refreshments will also be served.

The city will be excavating the holes for the trees. City employees will be on hand to help with the tree placement. Volunteers will be backfilling the dirt around the trees, mulching, and watering.

Lightweight gloves will be provided, however we recommend bringing your favorite pair of gardening/work gloves. Also feel free to bring a shovel.

We are looking forward to your participation in this collaborative neighborhood beautification project. Rick Howells, the city arborist, will be present to give us quick tips on proper tree planting technique.
