Allentown Promise Neighborhood and Community Bike Works

Allentown Promise Neighborhood will provide free bikes to children at Central, Cleveland, and McKinley Elementary schools during the winter and spring of 2014.  Fifteen children chosen from these APN schools will each receive a disassembled bike. Through the Community Bike Works program each child will have the opportunity to assemble their bikes during a 12-session hands-on bike assembly class. At the end of the class, each child will get to take their bike home.

This class not only provides free bikes to children in the APN, but provides invaluable experience in bike assembly, and promotes skill building for youth.  Allentown Promise Neighborhood is delighted for the partnership with Community Bike Works, and the opportunities for APN youth.
